In 2010, avid short-distance runners, entrepreneurs, and happily married couple, Robin & Jerry Kempfer, emailed a local event and asked if they had a run associated with their event. A few days later, they received a reply that read, “nobody has ever approached us about that before, but if you would like to organize one, we would be happy to have it”. The intent of the original email was to see if there was a run that they could participate in, not organize. However, after a lengthy discussion and weeks of research, they agreed to give it a try.
In July of 2011, they launched their first event, the Rhythm & Booms 5 Mile Run. Shortly after, they started planning more events.
In the spring of 2017, they formed a 501(c)3 non-profit, designed to raise money for local children’s charities by accepting donations through their race registrations and donating a portion of revenue to the non-profit. The non-profit, Run Strong Madison, has now donated more than $131K back to the community.
In 2019, Madison Events acquired Capitol View Events along with the Capitol View Triathlon, Haunted Hustle and HER Half Marathon.
In 2021, after a 20 month shutdown due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, they have begun rebuilding the business and continue adding new events
